Well join us:
What is Shared Lives?
Leicestershire Shared Lives Service is different to anything else offered in the Adult Social Care sector. Our carers provide person centred services tailored around the needs of their clients. Services are also provided in the carers home or in the community and therefore deliver a more natural and real-life experience. Our carers love their work, are passionate and want to make the best life possible for their clients, while having fun at work.
Shared Lives Service provides placements for adults with social care and support needs. This could include adults with…
- Dementia
- Physical Disabilities
- Learning Difficulties
- Behavioural Needs
- Poor Mental Health
- Or a mix, we offer support to most client groups
Shared Lives Leicestershire is accountable to CQC and is rated “Good.” The Registered Manager of the Scheme remains ultimately responsible for the quality and safety of the care and support offered in every Shared Lives arrangement and visits are made on a quarterly basis with Carers and Clients to ensure the placement continues to meet the desired needs.
We are offering self employed caring roles in Long Term (28 days and over) Short Breaks (overnight or up to 4 weeks) and Day Services (3-6 hours or adhoc).
Clients require sole use of a bedroom and are treated like any other member of the household. Like other family members, clients usually have their own interests to pursue, so they may go to day service, college, or work during the day so you will have time to pursue your own personal interests or look after other members of your family. Longer Term Carers are also eligible for a paid respite (paid annual leave) of up to 42 nights a year.
Shared Lives Carers are self-employed and are responsible for their own Tax & National Insurance. When registered as a Shared Lives Carer, you are also eligible for a £18,000 a year tax break on top of your personal allowance.
